OURMINE HACKERS HAVE FINALLY PAID BACK THEIR VENGEANCE TO WIKILEAKS

WikiLeaks is an international non-profit organization that publishes secret information, and has consecutively released different hacking tools categorized as the Vault 7 leak. The Vault 7 leaks continue to flow fast, giving more empasis on the hacking and infiltration capabilities of the CIA. All of their releases of the Vault 8 were briefly detailed and published, along with its documentations, in their website.

On the other hand, OurMine is a notorious hacking group that has a reputation of hacking high profile social media accounts including that of Netflix, HBO, Sony, Marvel, Google and public figures including Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sunder Pichai, former Twitter CEOs Dick Costolo and Ev Williams.

The non-profit whistle blower Wikileaks website was hacked earlier today, 31 August 2017 by a notorious hacking group namely Ourmine.

The hacked website threw a message as portrayed in the following image as a defacement:

Ourmine Hacking group message to wikileaks

The message states that:

Hi, it’s OurMine (Security Group), don’t worry we are just testing your…. blablablab, oh wait, this is not a security test! Wikileaks, remember when you challenged us to hack you?

Anonymous, remember when you tried to dox us with fake information for attacking wikileaks?

There we go! One group beat you all! #WikileaksHack lets get it trending on twitter!

After which, the website went down.  The attack occurred at early 31 August 2017 which lasted a couple of hours before being restored to its normal state by 2:00 p.m. of 31 August 2017.

WikiLeaks, with their series of their Vault 7 releases, displays to the public the US governments, especially the CIA’s capabilities to hack and infiltrate different cyber entities.  Contrary to their proud claims that they have access to numerous hacking capabilities, it shows that they are the one that was hacked this time, and that their capacity to fend off hacking attempts are quite low.

The defacement of the WikiLeaks’ website shows a vengeful intent from the Ourmine hackers.  Considering that they have mentioned the WikiLeaks’ previous dox to certain Ourmine members previously, it shows that the Ourmine’s intention of defacement is to pay back WikiLeaks and establish their superiority in terms of cyber-hacking.

With such formidable hacking groups around, such as Ourmine, websites should increase their cyber security nowadays, especially government websites and those that hold sensitive information.
